Google Glass, a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display, is now on sale to the general public.

The glasses will be on sale until stock runs out and will set high-tech consumers back $1,500.

Google Glass wearers can see information in a smartphone-like, hands-free format. The device allows communication with the Internet via language voice commands.

Google Glass had previously only been available to a select few who received an invitation from Google. Google did open up sales to the public last month, but for only one day.

A true consumer model of the web-connected eyewear still does not yet exist, but Google said it's decided to open up its beta "explorer" program.
