California cities can no longer stop residents from installing artificial turf

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A new state law is in effect that does not allow cities in California to stop homeowners from installing artificial turf.

Saving water and still having a beautiful lawn is the reason why many are choosing fake grass.

"It's environmentally and pet friendly, there are no bugs, no allergies, and it stays consistently looking great all year for many years to come," said Vic Watterson, owner of artificial turf.

Having it, however, does not come cheap. The waterless lawn can vary from $6 to $12 per square foot.
