Bebe clothing company suffers data breach

BRISBANE, Calif. (KABC) -- Bebe is the latest company to be added to the list of stores hit by data breaches. The Brisbane-based company says it recently detected suspicious activity involving its payment processing system.

An investigation into the breach suggests the attack was on data from payment cards swiped in its U.S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Island stores between Nov. 8 and 26.

The data may have included cardholder name, account number, expiration date, and verification code.

The company says purchases made through its website were not affected, and that it hired a computer security firm to block the attack and prevent it from continuing.

Bebe currently runs 175 retail stores, including its online store, and 35 outlet stores.
