GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- A body was discovered in a burned-out car in a Garden Grove parking lot Tuesday.

The charred Toyota Prius was parked near a bank in the strip mall parking lot.

Authorities have not yet determined if the body was male or female, and whether the death was murder or suicide.

Firefighters responded at about 3:45 a.m. near the intersection of Galway Street and Garden Grove Boulevard and put out the fire. It was at that time they discovered the body on the passenger side.

Garden Grove police are investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance video from a nearby bank, which shows the car arriving in the lot 20 minutes before the fire. Investigators have not determined if anyone else was at the scene.

Arson investigators say the fire was set intentionally, but there's still a lot they don't know about the death.

There were no reports of damage to businesses or other vehicles.
