BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- There was a big mess near Boyle Heights Friday as a 95-year-old sewer line collapsed and created a massive sinkhole at the intersection of 6th Street and Mission Road.
Firefighters rushed to the scene to save a car that was about to fall in and crash into gas lines below.
It could've been worse.
Clean-up crews rushed out to stop thousands of gallons of sewage from flowing into the nearby L.A. River.
It's expected to be at least a week before Mission Road reopens.
