LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California saw another day of protests on Monday, one day after an estimated 50,000 people turned out in Hollywood for a peaceful demonstration over the death of George Floyd.

The morning began with four different funeral processions, each led by a hearse, starting in South Los Angeles, Long Beach, Santa Ana and Reseda. They converged in downtown L.A. as Floyd's memorial was taking place in North Carolina.

"It's so refreshing to see all the young people," said Mike Nakagawa. "It's just so clear that they didn't get brought up in the same system and the same normal that we did."

In West Hollywood, some members of the LGBTQIA community and others joined in to protest along Santa Monica Boulevard.

"People said they're fed up with police brutality. They're fed up with what's going on," said Pastor William D. Smart Jr. of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Southern California. "So that's what you see out here. It's not a black thing. It's a people thing. Finally they've gotten the message."

UCLA professor Dr. Tyrone Howard says the wide range of people coming together during the protests is an encouraging sign.

In Santa Ana, protesters marched as the police chief announced the temporary suspension of using carotid restraint control holds. The LAPD also made the same announcement.

At night, City Hall in downtown L.A. was lit up in crimson and gold, the color of Floyd's alma mater in Houston, Texas.

A small group of protestors there vowed to occupy Grand Park for as long as it takes.

"Just like they did in (Occupy) Wall Street because we want them to know that every single day and every single night we will be here until our message is heard and there is change," said protester Jose Gomez.

Here were a handful of scheduled protests set to take place throughout the day:

11 a.m. at LAPD Headquarters at 100 W. 1st Street
