An inside look at LAPD composite sketches
Sketch artist explains the development of forensic drawings and how the process can be a difficult one.

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- Catching a criminal based on eyewitness accounts can be a tricky process.

A good sketch artist can help, but it depends on the information they get from those witnesses.

Anthony Kaklamanos works as a forensic artist for the LAPD -- sitting down with witnesses and coming up with the suspect sketches that we've grown so accustomed to seeing.

"Getting them to open up and actually describe the person that they would rather forget, that's probably the most difficult thing," he said. "You really have to listen and you really have to draw exactly what you're being told."

Eyewitness News reporter Rob Hayes put the forensics process to the test -- Watch his report in the video above.
