Man shot, killed in San Dimas garage; authorities looking into possibility of follow-home robbery

Death of San Dimas man investigated as possible follow-home robbery
A man was shot and killed inside of his garage in San Dimas, and authorities are looking into the possibility that it started as a a follow-home robbery.

SAN DIMAS, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was shot and killed inside of his garage in San Dimas, and authorities are looking into the possibility that it started as a a follow-home robbery.



The investigation was launched after deputies responded to a medical rescue call on Hawkbrook Drive around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.



They found the victim, only identified as a man in his 40s, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.



Neighbors say he leaves behind a wife and two sons.



According to Lt. Art Spencer, some of his property was taken, prompting them to investigate the possibility of a robbery. Additional circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown, but surveillance video was collected from the scene.



"What happened to my safe neighborhood? Why can't we go some place and do what we got to to do, and then have to worry about somebody following us home," said one resident did not wish to be identified.



Other residents in the area who say they knew the victim are shocked to hear about what happened.



"I know him because we are (in) the same church... I feel lost... I cannot believe it. I cannot believe it," said Arka Sujana.



At least one suspect was involved in the deadly shooting, authorities said, but a description was not available. No arrests have been made.
