CHICAGO (KABC) -- Derrick Rose's ex-girlfriend has filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Bulls point guard that claimed he and his friends drugged and gang-raped her two years ago.
The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, said she waited to file the suit because she was ashamed and embarrassed.
The civil suit states: "Jane remembers Rose laying by her side on the bed close to her face, while the other two guys were having sex with her simultaneously."
"If that happened, it is despicable. If it didn't happen, it is a remarkably preposterous story," said Eldon Ham, a Chicago Kent law professor.
Through a spokesperson, Rose admitted to having a non-exclusive relationship with the woman but denied any wrongdoing.
"The plaintiff's allegations are completely false and without any factual basis. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete," said Mark Baute, Rose's attorney, in a statement.
Legal experts point out that the alleged victim never went to police and filed a criminal complaint, and the civil suit comes two years after the alleged incident.
"The case, if there is one, is stale, it's old, it's harder to prove. She is in civil court, not criminal court," Ham said.
Baute said this is the third set of attorneys the alleged victim has used on this case.
"Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff, and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago," Baute said. "We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous."
