Man, 19, shot and killed outside East LA house party

EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 19-year-old was shot and killed outside a house party in East Los Angeles early Sunday morning.

Authorities received calls regarding shots fired around 3:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Alma Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim's body in the street. He was later identified as Ernesto Cervantes.

A group of people told Cervantes to leave the party, and someone in the group opened fire, according to police. The suspect then left the scene.

The gunshots woke up neighbors in the area, and one said he and his girlfriend first thought fireworks were going off in the area. Then they heard someone screaming stop.

Anyone with more information was asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department.
