MISSION HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The 5th grade graduating class of San Jose Elementary School in Mission Hills had a very special commencement speaker -- a 99-year-old woman with plenty of words of wisdom for the young students.

"I've gone through 16 presidents, seven wars. When I was a kid, there were no radios, no television sets. When I was born in 1915, women did not have the right to vote," said Sylvia Millberg, who will turn 100 years old on July 29.

Millberg, who graduated from UCLA in 1939 and built a manufacturing business during World War II before becoming an elementary school teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1957, was invited to give the commencement speech by a current teacher at San Jose Elementary School. The tip was sent to us using the #ABC7Eyewitness.
