LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The chain of BioHealth and Bryman colleges, with curriculum geared toward health care careers, has shut its doors, it was announced Tuesday.

The company that ran the colleges declared bankruptcy 10 days ago. Together, BioHealth and Bryman enrolled about 280 students in California, with campuses in Los Angeles, San Jose, Hayward and San Francisco. Any credits earned by those students may now be worthless.

State officials say the students won't have to repay any federal loans they may have taken out to finance their education. Some may still be eligible for tuition refunds from the state.

In addition, Santa Ana-based Corinthian Colleges announced last month that it plans to sell or close dozens of its Heald College, Everest College and WyoTech programs in 11 states.
