LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police have arrested a volunteer football coach for the Los Angeles Unified School District on suspicion of sexually assaulting students.

Jaime Jimenez, a Franklin Senior High School coach, was removed from his position after his arrest Thursday, district officials said Friday.

The 46-year-old has been coaching football since 1998. Investigators believe he sexually assaulted at least two students, Los Angeles Police Officer Jane Kim said.

Many players said they were stunned by the arrest.

"He's my football coach. Unexpected actually. I know the guy, he takes care of me, he's always there, he's a well-known man. When I heard about this, I couldn't believe it was him," Guillermo Cordova said.

"He was very disciplined with us. It's quite shocking. No one expected that from him," student Victor Leon said.

LAUSD was cooperating with police in the investigation.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and urged them to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call (323) 344-5742.
