BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- Singer Ray J was charged with trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer following a confrontation with security at a Beverly Hills hotel.

Officers responded to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel at about 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 9500 block of Wilshire Boulevard about a sexual battery at the bar.

Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., was accused of grabbing a woman's buttocks. Authorities, however, determined that the contact was incidental.

Police say the 33-year-old singer, known for previously and very publicly dating Kim Kardashian, agreed to leave the hotel, but later became "belligerent" with the valets and refused to leave. Beverly Wilshire Hotel security placed him under a private persons arrest, police said.

Beverly Hills police then took Ray J into custody and put him in the back of their squad car, where he proceeded to kick and shatter the window with his feet. When police tried to restrain his feet, Ray J spat into the face of one of the officers, police said.

He posted $20,000 bail Saturday. His court date was scheduled for July 25.
