Funeral held for LAPD detective killed in crash

LAPD Detective Ernest Allen, who was killed in a crash in Beverly Hills earlier this month, was laid to rest on Tuesday.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A funeral service for an LAPD detective killed in a Beverly Hills crash was held Tuesday morning in Inglewood.



The funeral for Ernest Allen Sr. began at about 11 a.m. at Faithful Central Bible Church on West Florence Avenue. He was 52.



Allen, a 27-year veteran of LAPD, was buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery.



On May 9, Allen was off-duty and driving his car when he was struck by a large cement truck on Loma Vista Drive in Beverly Hills. He was the second LAPD officer killed this year in a similar collision on the same street.



Allen is survived by his mother, two children, two grandchildren and his fiance.
