SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- After an explosive fireworks accident last year, some Simi Valley residents are staying home this Fourth of July. Others are undeterred and will be out again to enjoy the show.
At least 26 people were injured at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park last year when a defective shell exploded, igniting other shells and sending fireworks into the crowd.
The company says it has revamped its procedures and is promising a safe event this year.
