HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- They're the top-selling duo in music history and on Friday, Hall and Oates were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Daryl Hall and John Oates have been music superstars for more than 40 years, with a string of six-consecutive multi-platinum albums and six number-one singles in the 1970s and '80s.
Strangely, they've never won a Grammy, but for Oates, the recognition from Hollywood was seen as an acknowledgement of the impact their music has had on their fans.
"It's not just for a hit single or a number one record, which is, of course, good as well," Oates said. "But it's a big deal because it means that somehow you've affected people, you've touched people. The music that you've made and the work that you've done over the years somehow resonates."
Many of their fans showed up in Hollywood to see them get the star.
"They've just been a big part of our lives - the soundtrack of our lives," said fan Matt Emery. "And it's just awesome that they're finally getting their star."
