HARBOR CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A homicide investigation was underway after a woman was found beaten to death inside a motel room in Harbor City on Sunday.
Authorities were called to Colony Motel at 1629 Pacific Coast Highway at about 11:40 a.m. after housekeeping entered the room and discovered the body, which had blunt force trauma, investigators said.
The unidentified woman, who police said was in her 40s, died from her injuries, according to officials.
A woman at the scene, who did not want to be identified, said she believes the victim is her friend. She said she tried calling her cellphone and could not reach her.
She added that the victim had a big heart and would never hurt anyone.
Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the woman, and the search for her killer was underway.
