HEMET, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect was killed by Hemet police after allegedly brandishing a handgun at officers in the parking lot of a strip mall Thursday morning, police said.
Two Hemet police officers responded to the 200 block of E. Stetson Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. to investigate a report of an agitated man acting suspiciously inside his vehicle.
The officers approached the subject and called for backup, at which point the suspect allegedly brandished a handgun and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hemet police said the suspect was currently on parole and had an active felony warrant out for his arrest. His name was not released pending notification of kin.
A firearm was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured.
