'Hidden Cash' drops more clues in Los Angeles area

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A mystery millionaire, only known as @HiddenCash on Twitter, made more cash drops in the Los Angeles area Friday.

The clues for the first drop were tweeted at 9:23 a.m. and 9:44 a.m. Cassandra Mercury found $145 at Firehouse Recording Studio in Pasadena in less than 10 minutes after the last tweet.

Clues for the second and third drop pointed to trees at the Huntington Library in San Marino. Those envelopes were also quickly picked up.

In the evening, the mystery donor gave out six more envelopes of cash at two parks.

People gathered in Echo Park after @HiddenCash tweeted, "First three drops are in this park. First three drops are in this park. First three drops are in this park. (Get it???)"

Hector Guerrero was one of the lucky scavenger hunters. He tweeted a photo saying he won $168.

The hunt then moved to Salazar Park in East Los Angeles, where several more lucky people found some money.

David Ortega found an envelope with $200 hidden in a tree.

"I was looking at the trees. That was the first place I checked and I found a piece of paper and pulled it out," said Ortega.

More clues are expected over the weekend, with an "epic" scavenger hunt at the beach on Saturday.

The secret benefactor said the cash hunts were created to pay it forward and hoped the money will be used to help others.

On Thursday, several people found money at the Burbank Empire Center.
