Suspect leads CHP on high-speed chase from Westminster to Bakersfield area

INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- A suspect lead the California Highway Patrol a pursuit from Westminster to the Bakersfield area on Monday.

The chase began on the northbound 405 Freeway near the 605 Freeway in the Westminster area around 10 p.m. before heading to Inglewood. The suspect, who was in a Hyundai, was wanted for speeding and driving in the center divider.

At times, the suspect hit speeds of 100 mph and was seen weaving in between lanes.

The suspect later hopped on the 5 Freeway into the Santa Clarita area.

By 11 p.m., the suspect had driven past the Kern County line.

By 11:30 p.m., the chase came to an end in the area of Union Avenue near Highway 99, just south of Bakersfield. The driver hit spike strips and was taken into custody, the CHP said.
