Family seeks answers 2 years after unsolved killing of East LA father

EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- It's been nearly two years since Andrew Fierro was gunned down in East Los Angeles and his family is still waiting for the killer to be brought to justice.

Fierro was living in East LA with his wife and two kids when the shooting happened the night of Aug. 22, 2014.

"I got a call from his wife that they had shot him," said Fierro's mother, Michelle Leal.

"I just heard her screaming on the phone, 'No, no, my Andrew, my Andrew,'" said his sister Crystal Fierro.

Fierro had just finished some grocery shopping with his wife when they drove to a house on the 200 block of North Arizona Avenue to pick up their children. His wife went inside and Fierro was sitting in the car when he was shot in a drive-by, investigators said. They believe the shooter was in a red car.

The family and police say Fierro was not in a gang, but they suspect that the person who killed him was. They're hoping that nearly two years later, someone comes forward with information.

"People like that need to be off the street, and be accountable for what they do," said Fierro's mother, Michelle Leal.
