NFL star takes teen battling cancer on prom dream date

One teenage girl battling cancer got a Hall of Fame worthy prom, thanks to her NFL player date.

Eighteen-year-old Khameyea Jennings has been battling liver cancer for two years. Last Wednesday, Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Sen'Derrick Marks surprised Jennings at the hospital and, with roses in hand, asked Jennings if he could take her to her high school prom. Of course she said yes!

Dressed in white and gold, Marks picked up Jennings in his Lamborghini and took the teen to her prom at the Jacksonville Zoo.

"I look good, I think my date looks good, we'll have a great night," Marks told First Coast News. "I always want to be there for her here on out."

The prom date was organized by the Dreams Come True foundation, a local non-profit organization. Jennings had originally been hesitant to go to prom, but was encouraged to go by her grandmother, who recently passed away from cancer.

"She said this is a day to be normal," Jennings' mom, LaQuandra, told The Florida Times-Union. "Not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels. Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom."

Marks said his main goal during the night was to make sure that Jennings was happy and having a great time.

"We get a lot of bumps and bruises from tackling, but nothing like she's going through," Marks said. "Tonight I just want make sure she has fun and keeps that smile on her face."
