INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A dozen people fell ill and a building was evacuated at an Inglewood elementary school amid reports of a foul odor Tuesday morning.
Around 10:42 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire personnel responded to La Tijera K-8 Academy of Excellence Charter School in the 1400 block of N. La Tijera Boulevard.
A building was evacuated as emergency services personnel checked for evidence of a gas leak. A total of 13 people were transported to a nearby hospital for an evaluation, with three adults and nine kids treated for minor injuries.
Test results for a gas leak came out negative, Los Angeles County fire officials said, but they believe plumbing in the building could be backed up. The exact cause of the problem has not been determined.
Officials at the school called the sanitation department to unclog plumbing, which was recommended by the fire department.
