LAKEWOOD, Calif. -- Homicide detectives are investigating the death of man who was in custody at the Los Angeles County sheriff's station in Lakewood.

Deputies were immediately alerted and department personnel began to administer CPR. Firefighters arrived and took over, but the man did not respond. He was pronounced dead at 6:48 a.m.

Authorities said there were no obvious signs of physical trauma on the man. The cause of his death will be determined by the coroner's office.

The man, in his 50s, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Bellflower on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the station and booked.
