LAPD asks for help in finding missing girl, 13, last seen in Boyle Heights

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police on Friday asked for the public's help in finding a missing 13-year-old girl who last seen about a week ago in Boyle Heights.

Genesis Joanna Verduzco's family saw her about 8 a.m. Sept. 23 in the 1400 block of Mitchell Place, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. The girl called a taxi, which dropped her off at Santa Fe Springs Park, at 10068 Cedardale Drive in Santa Fe Springs.

Genesis' family has been in contact with the girl, "who stated she is sick and confused," the LAPD said, adding that she may be at a home in the Riverside area.

The teenager is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches tall, about 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
