Eaton, Palisades fires continue burning as new wildfires erupts

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- As the fire fight continues against the Eaton Fire and the Palisades Fire, new brush fires continue to crop up, the latest in the West Hills area.

Red flag warnings are in effect and will remain in place until 6 p.m. Friday for the Malibu coast, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, the San Gabriel Valley, the San Fernando Valley, Calabasas, the Santa Clarita Valley, the San Gabriel Mountains, and the 5 Freeway and 14 Freeway corridors.

Nonprofit World Central Kitchen mobilizes to help firefighters, fire victims

World Central Kitchen is answering the call to help those impacted by the devastating Southern California wildfires.

Started by Chef Jose Andres, the nonprofit responds to disasters around the world.

In addition to coordinating with food truck partners to provide meals for firefighters and other first responders, World Central Kitchen is also sending teams from the Westside to the San Gabriel Valley with food and water for evacuees.

People returned to their neighborhoods in Pacific Palisades on Thursday, only to find their homes reduced to rubble.

Firefighting plane hits drone while battling Palisades Fire

The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating after fire officials reported that a firefighting aircraft struck a drone while operating over the Palisades Fire in Southern California on Thursday.

The aircraft landed safely, the FAA said.

"It's a federal crime, punishable by up to 12 months in prison, to interfere with firefighting efforts on public lands," the FAA said in a statement. "

Emergency evacuation alert mistakenly sent to phones in LA County

An emergency alert about an evacuation warning was sent out to cellphones across Los Angeles County, but the alert was sent in error.

"I have been informed the evacuation warning that many of us received on our phones was mistakenly issued countywide due to a technical error," L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn tweeted.

Santa Monica city officials issued a statement saying there is no change to evacuation orders and warnings in that city, despite the alert.

Curfew to be implemented for Eaton Fire, Palisades Fire areas

During a 3 p.m. press conference, Sheriff Robert Luna announced they are working on implementing a curfew for the Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire areas.

Luna said they are going through the legal process, but hope to have the curfew start Thursday night. The curfew would be in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
