Wildfire burning in Riverside County prompts evacuations as another burns in Santa Clarita

Multiple fires broke out across Southern California amid hot temperatures.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A wildfire burning in the Homeland area of Riverside County prompted evacuation orders Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, firefighters are battling a blaze burning in Santa Clarita that has already scorched several acres.

Hills Fire in Riverside County 50% contained, 71 acres burned
The Hills Fire burning in Riverside County remains at 71 acres but it is now 50% contained, Cal Fire said.
The evacuation order has been reduced to an evacuation warning.
Cal Fire says residents may return home but advise to drive with caution as firefighters continue working in the area.
"Firefighters will remain on-scene overnight and tomorrow working on strengthening containment lines and mopping up hot spots," said the agency on X.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews stop Plenty Fire forward progress
Los Angeles County firefighters stopped forward progress of the Plenty Fire burning in Santa Clarita, the agency said Friday night.
Crews held the fire to approximately 76 acres.
Six firefighters were treated for minor to moderate heat-related illnesses while battling the fire, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.

Rancho Fire burns 13 acres in Thousand Oaks, forward progress stopped
The Rancho Fire burning on the southbound side of the 101 Freeway near the 23 Freeway in Thousand Oaks has now burned 13 acres, but firefighters have managed to stop its forward progress.
The Ventura County Fire Department says helicopters had been making water drops at the head of the fire as gound crews established a containment line.
Crews have started to be released from the scene but fire officials say firefighters will remain overnight to mop up and ensure "every hotspot will be extinguished tonight."

As crews battle a wildfire threatening homes in Riverside County and another in Santa Clarita that has already scorched more than 76 acres, firefighters in Ventura County are battling a vegetation fire that broke out near the hills of the 101 and 23 freeways in Thousand Oaks.
The Rancho Fire has already scorched 5 acres, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
As crews battle a wildfire threatening homes in Riverside County and another in Santa Clarita that has already scorched more than 76 acres, firefighters in Ventura County are battling a vegetation fire that broke out near the hills of the 101 and 23 freeways in Thousand Oaks.
Crews are battling the flames from the air and from the ground.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries or homes and structures threatened.
