LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Holding candles, people gathered in Downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday night to remember those killed in Paris.
The memorial service and prayer vigil was held on the steps of City Hall.
L.A.'s mayor, police chief and city council president were joined by the French consul general and religious leaders for the ceremony.
Southern California residents touched by the tragedy came out, as did those who call France home.
"It's really emotional because this is our flag, and it's here," said Celine Bertolla, who was in L.A. on a study abroad program. "We're really happy to see everyone is with us."
Mayor Eric Garcetti said when terrorists want to divide us, we come together through sadness.
