Lyft offers free rides in 'Ghostbusters' Ecto-1 in LA

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- When you need a ride in Los Angeles, who are you going to call? Lyft, the app-based ride service, is offering customers a chance to ride in the "Ghostbusters" Ecto-1 for free on Friday and Saturday.

Users just have to select "Ghost Mode" in the app to request a ride in the Ecto-1 for free between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Once inside the Ecto-1, customers will have access to a Hi-C Ecto Cooler and "Ghostbusters"-themed Twinkies.

The Ghost Mode will only be available in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

"Just looking at the car makes people happy, so if just seeing it around the streets is making people happy, I can't even imagine what it will be like when everyone gets to ride in it," Luke Greenwood of Lyft said. "Take it to work, take it home from work, take it on a date, whatever works best for you."

Two riders will also take home the grand prize of two tickets each to the "Ghostbusters" premiere on July 9.

The feature was designed as a promotion for the new "Ghostbusters" reboot, which is set to open in theaters on July 15.
