VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- A memorial service is being held Saturday for a San Diego firefighter killed battling the Thomas Fire in Ventura County.
Gov. Jerry Brown is among the many expected to attend the celebration of life memorial service for Cal Fire San Diego Unit Fire Apparatus Engineer Cory Iverson.
The service started at 10 a.m. at Rock Church on Rosecrans Street in San Diego.

An autopsy showed Iverson died from thermal injuries and smoke inhalation.
The 32-year-old is survived by his 2-year-old daughter and his wife, Ashley, who's expecting their second child.

The colossal Thomas Fire, which straddled coastal Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, broke out Dec. 4. It is the largest wildfire recorded in modern California history.
