Man builds tiny, mobile house for homeless woman

JEFFERSON PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man in a Jefferson Park neighborhood built a miniature home for a homeless woman who is well-known in the area.

Folks in the neighborhood nicknamed Irene McGee "Smokey," and she gets by on collecting recyclables.

Elvis Summers said the 60-year-old did not need to sleep in the dirt and he spent $500 to build the small home for Smokey. He said the idea came after hearing about many people living in inexpensive, small homes.

The home was built on wheels so that every three days Smokey can move her house around so as not to violate any laws.

Summers has been so inspired by the work he did for Smokey, he created a GoFundMe account to raise money to build more tiny homes.
