INYO NATIONAL FOREST (KABC) -- A storm in the Sierras could hamper search efforts for a missing UCLA graduate student.
Michael David Meyers has been missing since telling family he was going hiking at Mount Russell two weeks ago.
Meyers' SUV was discovered at the entrance to Mount Whitney on Wednesday.
Family members say the 25-year-old is an experienced hiker, but search crews are concerned because that area has recently seen some brutal weather.
"The winds have been upward to a better than 100 miles an hour in that area over the Sierra Crest and heavy snow falls," said Inyo County Sheriff Bill Lutze.
Crews are continuing to look for Meyers ahead of potentially bad weather this weekend.
Meyers is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet and 10 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
If you have any information about his whereabouts, you're urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) LAPD-24-7 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
