Moreno Valley City Council approves mega warehouse construction

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- The Moreno Valley City Council has approved the construction of a mega warehouse, expected to bring an estimated 20,000 jobs to the area.

The close 3-2 vote Wednesday night came after days of heated debate. Proponents praise the increase in local jobs, while critics worried about the traffic and air pollution the project could cause.

The World Logistics Center will be located in a 3,800-acre section of land in the city's eastern end. The 40-million-square-foot structure will be one of the largest warehouse complexes in the United States.

The warehouse will make Moreno Valley a global hub for distribution and storage.

In addition to an influx of jobs, some residents hope the new project will also raise property values and help the real estate industry.
