5 fires break out along 5 Freeway in Newhall

NEWHALL, SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway into a string of brushfires on the 5 Freeway in Newhall.

According to investigators, five fires broke out along the northbound 5 Freeway near Calgrove Boulevard just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

The fires burned about 1/2 acre before crews were able to put them out, authorities said.

Firefighters said the blazes are suspicious. An investigation is ongoing.
