1 dead after struck by car on 605 Freeway in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- The northbound 605 Freeway was closed in Lakewood for several hours on Monday night after a person was hit by a car.



The incident happened around 9:34 p.m. near Del Amo Boulevard. According to L.A. County Fire, the person possibly jumped from the freeway overpass, landing on a passing car. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.



Four people inside the car were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately known.



The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. All lanes of the freeway reopened around 2 a.m.
