An 18-year-old woman was arrested for the hit-and-run death of 18-year-old Nysmuh Imann Taylor in Sherman Oaks.

SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police have arrested 18-year-old Lerone Natalia Herscu Tuesday on felony hit-and-run charges for a deadly crash in Sherman Oaks.

LAPD officials said Herscu turned herself in with an attorney when her family encouraged her to surrender after seeing reports on TV.

Investigators believe Herschu was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into 18-year-old Nysmuh Imann Taylor early Sunday.

Taylor was crossing Moorpark Street near Matilija Avenue when she was hit and died at the scene.

Investigators allege Herscu made a U-turn after the crash, looked at the body and fled.

She is being held on $50,000 bail.

The mother of the victim said she is relieved the suspect is in custody, but it will not bring her daughter back.
