19-year-old critically injured in Azusa head-on collision

AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- A 19-year-old driver was airlifted in critical condition following a head-on collision in Azusa Saturday night.

Investigators say he was driving southbound in the 1900 block of Highway 39 when he crossed the center line and crashed into a car traveling northbound at about 11:45 p.m.

The 19-year-old driver had to be cut from his Honda coupe and hospitalized. The second driver, a 27-year-old Los Angeles man, was also hospitalized. He suffered minor to moderate injuries.

It's unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
