MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- A semi-truck crashed into a power pole and sheared off a fire hydrant in Montebello Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred on Telegraph and Gage roads at about 3:50 p.m.

The collision caused an electricity outage at the Quality Inn Hotel, trapping a few guests in the hotel elevators. They have since been rescued.

The semi-truck took down live electrical wires. People were advised to stay out of the area as repairs were made. No injuries were reported.

The Montebello Fire Department and Southern California Edison crews responded to the scene. Power was expected to be restored by 11:30 p.m.

Telegraph Road was closed between Greenwood and Slauson avenues for accident-related repairs, police said.
