Arcadia mother arrested after allegedly kidnapping son from mall; boy found safe

ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) -- An Arcadia mother was arrested after allegedly kidnapping her 3-year-old son from the Westfield Santa Anita Mall.

Police say Levi Barrios was taken from the mall Saturday night while he was with his great aunt.

A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy found the boy safe around 2:20 a.m. Sunday at Union Station in Los Angeles.

The child was in good condition and unharmed.

His mother, 25-year-old Melissa Barrios was arrested for kidnapping and booked at the Arcadia Police Department. She is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Police say she suffers from mental illness.
