CANOGA PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The identities have been released of a couple who were killed when their recreational vehicle crashed in Canoga Park on Monday.
The coroner's office identified the two victims as Charles Meehleis, 84, and Roslyn Meehleis, 82, of West Hills.
They died when their 2010 Fleetwood motorhome, which was towing a Jeep, hit a fence near Browns Canyon Wash and sheared a fire hydrant. A guard rail kept the RV from crashing into the Browns Canyon Wash flood control channel below.
The crash happened in the 8400 block of De Soto Avenue at about 3:20 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash, officials said.
Firefighter crews also had to mitigate an electrical hazard and a fuel spill caused by the crash.
