Carson chase ends in crash; driver possibly under the influence

CARSON, Calif. (KABC) -- A chase involving a suspected intoxicated driver ended in a crash in Carson on Sunday.

Deputies said the pursuit began around 2 a.m. when they tried to pull over a driver who they thought may be under the influence.

The chase ended moments later near Avalon and Gardena boulevards, when the driver crashed into another vehicle, and then into a pole.

Authorities say eight people were involved in the collision. At least four of them, including the suspected driver, reported minor injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody.
