LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Fred Jordan Mission honored hundreds of poor and homeless mothers with a Mother's Day luncheon and a day of pampering.
Sunday marked the 71st year the mission in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles has been helping to make Mother's Day special for the underprivileged.
While mothers were getting pampered, their children were also treated to fun games and gifts.
"This year, we're celebrating 70 years of giving back to the least of these here in Los Angeles, the greatest city in America. When I arrived this morning, we already had a couple hundred women and children in line for our Mother's Day celebration," said Tom Jordan, Executive Vice President of the Fred Jordan Mission.
Mothers were also given fresh flowers, bulging gift bags and food bags to help celebrate.
Fred Jordan Mission is located at 445 Towne Avenue. For more information, visit http://www.fjm.org.
