High surf, rip currents result in hundreds of rescues at LA beaches
Los Angeles County lifeguards rescued more than 400 people at local beaches on Tuesday, as a result of high surf and powerful rip currents.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles County lifeguards rescued more than 400 people at local beaches on Tuesday, as a result of high surf and powerful rip currents.

At one incident in Venice, dozens of people were caught up in the rough water.

"They ended up rescuing 18 people, put them onto two of our Baywatch boats - Baywatch Del Rey and Baywatch Santa Monica - and then another 25 people were able to self-rescue and we were able to prompt them off the beach," lifeguard Lidia Barillas said.

No one was seriously hurt.

Los Angeles County lifeguards are warning beach goers to expect dangerous rip currents all along L.A. County beaches through Friday as storms head into the region.
