Man found stabbed in Whittier identified

WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who died after he was found stabbed on the sidewalk in Whittier has been identified.

Police say 29-year-old Israel Lopez was attacked around 7:20 p.m. Friday. He was found lying on the curb and suffering from stab wounds in the 11000 block of Carmenita Road.

Lopez was rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where he later died.

The suspect remains on the loose. A motive for the attack is not yet known.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the LASD Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
