Man wounded in shooting at South Gate cellphone store

SOUTH GATE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after being shot twice inside a cellphone store in South Gate Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing near Ardmore and California avenues at about 5 p.m., but found a victim suffering from two gunshot wounds upon their arrival.

The store is located across the street from the South Gate Police Department. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.

South Gate police say the victim is expected to live.
