Montebello crash: Driver killed, 2 passengers injured

MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- One man was killed and two others were injured Sunday after a truck struck a parked car in Montebello.

Montebello police received a call about the crash at about 1:25 a.m. in the 300 block of North Garfield Avenue. A white Chevy truck traveling southbound on Garfield Avenue struck a parked car facing northbound on the east side of the street.

The driver died on the scene and two passengers were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

It was unclear if the driver was intoxicated, police said. He was identified as David Geovanny Ibarra, 20, of Montebello.

Garfield Avenue between Whittier Boulevard and Madison Avenue was temporarily closed while officers investigated the incident.
