CAJON PASS (KABC) -- Several cars, semi-trucks and a boat caught on fire on the 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass as the fast-moving North Fire spread Friday afternoon.
Cars and trucks were in a standstill and traffic was backed up for miles as a plane dumped fire retardant on the fire that swept up a hillside.
"I just grabbed my kids and I ran up the hill. Everyone was screaming. Cars were on fire, blowing up," said Russell Allevato, a Michigan resident visiting California.
"It was just a nightmare," he added.
