VIDEO: Ventura County road rage case dismissed
A violent confrontation between drivers was caught on video in Ventura County. Charges were filed but they've been dropped.

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- A motorcyclist and a couple who nearly collided with the motorcyclist got into a heated confrontation on the side of the road in Ventura County.

The driver's partner recorded the tense argument that escalated into a road rage incident. As things boiled over, the motorcyclist is seen losing his temper and punching the man shooting the video. Then it was a full-on melee as the couple and the man appear to tussle on the ground.

John Stephens, who is seen being punched in the video, says he was attacked twice without touching anyone.

The confrontation happened in 2012. At the time, the motorcyclist was charged with misdemeanor battery. Since then, the couple has fought to make the charges stick. But on Thursday, the Ventura County prosecutors asked a judge to dismiss the case and drop the charges.

Prosecutors say after investigating the incident, they discovered that the video did not tell the story of whole story.
