NORTH HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man in broad daylight in North Hills on Sunday.
The shooting happened around noon in the 14600 block of Novice Street. Witnesses say the victim, only described as a man in his 20s, was shot after he stepped out of an SUV.
According to police, another man got out of the front passenger seat of the SUV and opened fire on the victim multiple times without any warning. The SUV, which was driven by an unidentified woman, then fled the scene.
"The only thing we know for sure is the victim was dropped off by the same car that contained the shooter," said Lt. Paul Vernon with the Los Angeles Police Department. "From that, we would deduce the victim knew his assailants, but even that is supposition at this point."
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, with a medium build, and short or shaved hair. He was wearing a green shirt and jeans. The SUV was described as a tan or gold Chevy Blazer or Toyota Forerunner. The description of the driver was not available.
The motive for the shooting is unknown. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
